Abstract

Museums with a venerable age, often keep a lot of secrets and mysteries in the depths of  their funds. For many centuries Morshansk historical and art Museum named after P.P.  Ivanov gathered a diverse collection, repeatedly faced with difficult challenges, but has managed to preserve for posterity the priceless monuments of the past epochs. The collection of wooden sculpture of the Morshansk historical and art Museum today has eighty-three exhibits of the late XVII–XVIII centuries. In the special literature it is known for reproductions of monuments placed in the album by N.N. Pomerantsev, in articles by A.I.  Leonov and M.A. Klimkova. The purpose of this publication is to reveal a collection of  wooden sculptures of the Morshansk Museum based on bibliographic sources, to analyze its artworks.
