Abstract
Exhibitions of pop up books being hold in Moscow in 2018 have sparked an interest to a children's paper book with a complex construction and highly artistic illustrations. Having looked over the history of this genre in the art of books, the author takes a close look on pop up books of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries in Europe as well as in Russia in early 2000s. Technological process of making such a book is demonstrated and is based on samples created by the modern Russian artists.
