Issue № 2 (5) 2017 of “The Art of Eurasia” Journal, as in a mosaic, shows a beautiful and diverse palette of artistic daring of different peoples, times and cultures.
The heading “Eurasian Heritage” presents studies of ancient art. Here is a paleocreographic analysis of plot compositions with dancing warriors in mushroom hats. The principles of constructing a composition of deer stones located on the territory of Mongolia are considered, and an interpretation of individual subjects is also given here. Here are also presented in Russian two fragments of the monograph of the famous Indian scientist Om Chand Handa “Panorama of Himalayan Art” concerning primitive art — petroglyphs: the scientist examines the complexes of the oldest images made with paint, and later drawings, embossed on the surface of the stone.
An article about the canons of the image of Shambhala, the legendary kingdom of peace and prosperity, is published in the “Dictionary of Buddhist Iconography by Lokesh Chandra” section.
The heading “Art of the XX—XXI centuries” tells about the work of the Moldavian painter Mikhail Greku, the syncretic art of the poet and artist Elena Guro, about the monument of Zurab Tsereteli “Friendship forever”, made to mark the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Georgievsk. The review of the exhibition “Famous Compatriots — for the Altai Krai” is also published here. The State Art Museum of Altai Krai organized it for the 80th anniversary of the Altai Territory — the homeland of academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Arts Viktor Kalinin, Vadim Ivankin, Anatoly Alekseev, Vladimir Gorislavtsev, Vladimir Muratov, Mikhail Shishin.
The development of the academic icon in Russia from the 17th century to the present, based on the collection of the State Art Museum of Altai Krai, is described in a study under the heading “In storerooms and expositions of museums and art galleries”.
