Abstract
In the history of the Kasli factory, the pages covering its participation in the largest exhibition of artistic casting in Moscow (1940), as well as its activities in the pre-war period (from January to June 1941) have remained practically unexplored. The researchers do not use any data on the exposition of Kasli castings published in the exhibition catalogue and periodicals of Moscow, Chelyabinsk, and Sverdlovsk. This article aims to fill this gap and for the first time to introduce into scientific discourse the materials of the newspaper “Kaslinsky Rabochiy” (“Kasli Worker”) of 1940–1941, which are of interest for modern art historians dealing with the problems of artistic iron casting. On the basis of the study of the local press the author has managed to restore the names of many chasers of the factory, who were still in oblivion. Upon analysis of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the Kasli artistic casting masters who participated in the 1940 exhibition exerted a significant and beneficial influence on the improvement of the quality of output products and the dissemination of the experience of Kasli production to other enterprises in the region in 1941.
