Abstract

For a long time researchers of Primorye art have been focusing their attention on landscape and portrait genres. It is peculiar that the genre of a story composition in the Primorye art has not been sufficiently studied, although the compositions which glorified the labor and military deeds of the compatriots took the center place in all major exhibitions during the Soviet time. This research is devoted to a narrower, but no less interesting aspect — the revival of an interest in the main academic genre — the story composition on historical, religious and mythological themes in the work of neo-modern artists of Primorye. The article analyzes the paintings of three artists in Vladivostok: Yevgeny Makeyev, Sergei Gorbachev and Oleg Podskochin, however, also noted a number of artists whose story compositions on mythological and biblical themes indicate the dynamic development of this genre in the modern visual arts of Primorye and the entire Far East.
