Abstract

Vitaly Kulikov (1935–2015) was one of the famous Ukrainian artists of the second half of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century. The article describes the particular qualities of his creative manner in the interpretation of forms and images. He created his own style, which might be defined as the fusion of academic analytic drawing with cubism. Its distinguishing feature is "geometrism". The image of a woman was the central theme of his work. In working on this theme, Kulikov appeals to the European tradition: biblical and Greek subjects.
