Abstract

The article proves the baselessness of a fairly widespread view of Buddhist plastic as devoid of dynamics, individual facial features and human emotions. The study by the case of  the  creativity of the philosopher and artist Zanabazar shows that the faces and poses of  Buddhas and Bodhisattvas reflect a level of consciousness that is much higher than human. Their thought is able to move with infinite speed, and consciousness at the same time to fix and influence many events in the world. This cannot be achieved without overcoming purely human passions and selfish desires. The earthly confirmation of the reality of such a high level of  conscious existence is the Hambo Lama Itigelov, who entered into a state of deep Samadhi in the 1920s and still preserved his body incorruptible.
