Works by Maria Pereyaslavets dedicated to Cuba

Abstract

The article examines the work of Moscow artist Maria V. Pereyaslavets, a painter and academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. Particular attention is paid to the artist's Cuban works, created during her creative trip to Cuba in 2019. The main goal of the article is to analyse the works dedicated to Cuba, identify the main themes and motifs, compositional features, and colour relationships. The objectives of the study are to briefly review Pereyaslavets' creative path, determine the main genres and themes of her art, and trace the creative continuity within her family. Pereyaslavets' artistic legacy covers classical genres of fine art, including portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. Her work focuses on poetic images of childhood and themes inspired by A.S. Pushkin. The creative trip to Cuba is reflected in the artist's works, where she continues to explore her favourite artistic trends. The portrait series depicts images of Cuban children, while the urban landscapes convey the unique views and atmosphere of sunny Havana. The study of Pereyaslavets' works in Cuba is relevant for understanding her artistic goals as a representative of a famous dynasty of artists and as an independent, original artist. It also sheds light on the cultural ties between the two countries and the mutual influence of their cultures. This is the first time that Pereyaslavets' Cuban series of works has been introduced into scientific circulation and analysed.
