Abstract

The article reveals the problem of “severe style” in the Soviet art of the 1950s – 1960s, considers its main features and thematic images. The author explores the issue of representation of the “severe style” in the paintings and graphic works of Siberian artists of the middle – second half of the twentieth century. Comparative analysis of landscape works by G.F. Borunov, B.Ya. Ryauzov, G.N. Zavyalov, A.N. Liberov showed the manifestations of the “severe style”, discovered patterns and differences, as well as features of the expression of “severe style” in the Siberian fine arts.
