Abstract
This article examines two Swiss periods in the life and work of the Polish artist Kazimierz Zeleniewski. Until now, they have not been considered as independent in the broader context of the master's early period. The relevance of the theme is determined by the growing interest in the work of little known or unknown artists of the second generation of the Paris School. The aim of the work is not only to determine the place of K. Zeleniewski in the stream of artistic searches of the early twentieth century, to reconstruct the missing fragments of his biography, but also to analyse the development of his individual style. The study is based on the application of a comprehensive approach, including historical-biographical and formal-stylistic methods. As a result, the author completed the facts of the artist's creative biography, confirmed the chronological framework of his stay in Switzerland and gave names of the works created during these years. The study reveals for the first time the peculiarities of the formation of K. Zeleniewski's own style, a complex of stylistic influences — from Cezannism to Pointillism, gives an art-historical analysis of individual paintings, which allowed author to conclude that the artist belonged to one of the modern trends — Synthetism.
