Abstract
The article examines the history, regional identity and current state of Art Studies in Altai. The author summarizes and systematizes the activities of art historians who are actively working and have made a great contribution to the development of Altai art and Art History. The review is accompanied by an extensive bibliography. The study reveals the aspect of continuity of research generations and scientific schools. Both the methodological basis of the search and the thematic spectrum are defined: the history and current state of fine art of Altai, Siberia as a whole, the Far East and adjacent territories; theory and philosophy of art; collection of the Altai State Art Museum; questions of methods of teaching history and theory of artistic culture. The formation of Art Studies in the region is associated with the activities of the Altai State Art Museum, universities and the Altai regional organization of the Union of Artists of Russia.
