In the section “Eurasian heritage” you will meet with the highest skill of wood carving in the Indian spurs of the Himalayas, and next to it is a material about Siberian carving in one of the historical centers of Siberia — Tomsk.
In honor of the 170th anniversary of Vasily Surikov, we publish a study of his painting "Storming of a Snow Fortress" as a phenomenon of a transitional period in the artist's work. The second article is about his cartoons of different years, their plot content and artistic qualities.
The heading “Art of the XX—XXI centuries” tells about the creation of a monument to the composer A. Alyabyev by Sergey Milchenko in the city of Tobolsk: from concept to implementation, with an analysis of compositional and artistic solutions. According to another study, Zurab Tsereteli's sculpture cycle, dedicated to the history of the Russian state in the person of the Romanov rulers, carries the energy of the author's sincere desire to know the subjects depicted, understand their actions and at the same time introduce them to his contemporaries. Turning to art studies of painters, we pay attention to the Moldovan artist Anna Baranovich, who expressed the energy of life in the motifs of nature, in the appearance of man; on the other hand, we present an analysis of heroic and romantic paintings devoted mainly to the Eastern coast of the Crimea, ancient Cimmeria, by the famous Russian artist Konstantin Bogaevsky.
Research of masterpieces from Russian collections can be found in the section “In storerooms and expositions of museums and art galleries.” Here is an analysis of the images of St. Blessed Xenia of Petersburg, made in different materials and techniques. For the 90th anniversary of one of the outstanding artists of Altai Gennady Borunov, an exhibition of his works from the funds of the State Art Museum of Altai Krai was held. Our Journal publishes its review and analysis of a number of works by the master. Another study is devoted to the unique collection of old photographs from the Arkhangelsk estate Museum, it highlights genres, subjects and analyzes photography techniques.
