Abstract

Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after V.P. Sukachev owns three paintings by the Russian artist V.I. Surikov: an etude and a sketch for the historical canvases “Suvorov Crossing the Alps” (1899) and “Boyarynya Morozova” (1887), as well as a watercolour portrait of G.A. Dobrinskaya (Chentsova) (1911). The study of Moscow, Leningrad, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk publications about V.I. Surikov and his paintings showed that a generalized study of the history of the existence of works in Irkutsk was not carried out, reports about them were fragmentary and had factual inaccuracies. The article for the first time, based on a scientific analysis of publications and archival documents, summarizes information about the three named works of the artist, which entered the collection of the Irkutsk Art Museum in 1950–1969. As a result, the study established and specified data on the initial and final attributions, first and subsequent reproductions and exposures of the etude, sketch and portrait.
