Abstract
The article presents the unofficial art of Sverdlovsk in the 1960s – 1980s. The author pays attention to the terminology in which this phenomenon is described, in particular, the definition of the “second avant-garde". The article presents the estimations of the creativity of informal artists from point of view of art historians, representatives of the official Union of Artists and Soviet government structures. The research characterizes the process of “mastering” the art of informal artists by the professional “expert environment” is characterized — from the initial fixation and first assessments of this phenomenon to the recognition of its best achievements. The author used elements of the historical-genetic method making possible to trace the historical and cultural transformations that influenced the formation of estimates of the phenomenon under consideration. Also, a complex of art studies methods formed the basis for determining the specifics of the “second avant-garde”.
