Abstract

Installations in contemporary art are preceded by traditional types of Chinese "installations" – for example, altar sets Wugong that existed in the temples or office expositions using special museum "equipment" – cabinets-shelves dobaoge, which set the principles of exhibiting antiques, relevant to this day. The plot variety of the Ch'ing installations of the XVIII century is determined by table decorations and mechanical watches – products of the international art market. Authorial installations of the late 20th – early 21st centuries formally and thematically go back to the synchronously emerging Western models, which does not exclude their links with the earlier (Ch'ing / Qing) tradition.
