Abstract
In the 1960s, it became evident that modernism had exhausted itself. Since the late 1960s, a discordant mass culture has brought powerfully up its claims. The response to modernism in architecture, in particular, has been an appearance of a whole range of different styles. One of them is deconstructivism. The article analyzes some works of the leading masters of this style. At the same time, deconstructivism is compared with art installations and is considered as an architectural installation. In both of them the methods which break the stereotypes are used to create the conceived images. It is such approach that allows to reveal these images. The appearance of artistic and architectural installations becomes intelligible in the light of the works of poststructuralist J. Derrida, who proposed a method of deconstruction to display hidden meanings in literary texts.
