Abstract
The article is about the history and modern development of the Grabar Art Conservation Center, founded in 1918. Over the 100-year history, the Center's employees have managed to preserve thousands of monuments of art, including the icons of the Moscow Kremlin cathedrals, the icons “Mother of God of Vladimir” (the first third of the 12th century) and the “Trinity” painted by Andrey Rublev (15th century), paintings and drawings from the collections of the Dresden Gallery and the Uffizi Gallery, exhibits from the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, The Pushkin Museum of fine arts, State historical Museum and much more. Now the Grabar Art Conservation Center has restoration workshops, departments of physical and chemical research, scientific expertise, an archive and a photo library. All this allows the Center to carry out the restoration and scientific examination of historical and cultural monuments, conduct research projects (physical, chemical and X-ray studies), conduct advanced training courses for restorers.
