About Journal

“The Art of Eurasia” is an international peer-reviewed academic journal on the theory and history of fine and decorative arts, design and architecture. Published since 2015. Established with the participation of the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow). Publication frequency: 4 issues per year.

 

“The Art of Eurasia” Journal

  • Focus and Scope: fine arts, decorative and applied arts and architecture; theory and history of art.
  • Scientific indexing. “The Art of Eurasia” Journal is included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) on the eLIBRARY.ru platform, and is reviewed in EBSCO Publishing, Google Scholar, WorldCat (OCLC WorldCat Digital Collection), DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals). DOI (Digital Object Identifier) indexes are assigned to scientific articles, metadata is stored in the DataCite and Crossref repositories in Russian and English.
  • Archiving. Information about the journal issues is presented and accessible online on the Electronic Scientific Library site in full format, in order to create Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). The journal has got a RSCI impact-factor.
  • DOI must be indicated when citing “The Art of Eurasia” Journal.
  • Certificate of mass media accreditation and a name of registering authority: accreditation certificate EL №FS77-71452 from October 26 of 2017 issued by Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media.
  • The editorial policy of the journal is focused on modern humanitarian research, the academic level of material presentation, historiographic completeness and discussion. Editorial opinion may not coincide with the views of the authors of articles.

 

Preamble

The scientific e-journal “The Art of Eurasia” follows the international rules of copyright protection, the current legislation of the Russian Federation and the ethical principles of scientific publications, developed on the basis of the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (http://publicationethics.org/). Editorial staff follows principles and procedures to facilitate that facilitate the performance of ethical responsibilities by the editor-in-chief, editors, reviewers, and authors as required.

This editorial policy is valid from October 26, 2017, the date of registration of the journal, in order to ensure high quality standards and implement the goals and objectives declared by the journal.

This policy is registered in the SHERPA/RoMEO international publication policy database: https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/id/publication/39596.

The editorial of “The Art of Eurasia” Journal uses the following recommendations and requirements for published materials and reserves the right to reject the publication of an article in case of violation of the rules listed below.

 

Open Access & Deposition Policy

Iskusstvo Evrazii = The Art of Eurasia Journal offers a possibility of OPEN ACCESS to its content. This is an open access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) definition of open access.

All journal articles are available immediately after publication under licence Creative Commons “Attribution-NonCommercial” 4.0.

The Art of Eurasia Journal is following the Sherpa/Romeo Policy. The pre-print, post-print and publisher's version/PDF can be archived under the following conditions. Author(s) may deposit and use the document as follows: on the personal website, on the institutional repository, on subject repositories without the express permission of the Editorial Office. Authors may post the version of the article that was submitted to the journal (pre-print) to the above resources, at any time. Authors can make their published article publicly available, provided that they also post the DOI of the published article and cite it correctly.

When submitting an article that has been published as a pre-print, authors should be aware that reviewers may identify them as authors based on the pre-print. In such an event, the Editorial Office cannot ensure the double-blind nature of the peer review. Open Access pathways permitted by this journal's policy are listed here.

 

Digital archiving and preservation

All journal articles are available immediately after publication under licence Creative Commons “Attribution-NonCommercial” 4.0 on the official website of the journal in the Archives section. In order to digitally preserve all published scientific content, the journal publisher submits metadata and full-text archives to the national Scientific Electronic Library (ELIBRARY) and CyberLeninka the local institutional archive, as well as to another databases in which the journal is indexed. This is to ensure that the journal's published scientific content remains accessible to the community, despite any accidental loss of data in the journal's archive site records.

For Authors

When sending materials for consideration by the journal Iskusstvo Evrazii = The Art of Eurasia, the Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence CC BY-NC 4.0 that allows others to share the work for non-commercial purposes with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

For Users

All users of the materials published online in the journal Iskusstvo Evrazii = The Art of Eurasia have the right to their free non-commercial redistribution, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in its entirety, with attribution, in accordance with the licence Creative Commons — Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).

 

Responsibilities and ethics of editors

  1. Quality assurance. Editors strive to meet the needs of authors and readers, improving the quality of the journal. The basic quality requirements, goals, and policies of the journal should be clearly defined and accessible on the journal's website. A list of required submitting materials is available on the journal's website. Editors should check for all elements when receiving material from the author. The lack of necessary materials is the reason for refusing to review the article.
  2. Decision to publish. The editors of “The Art of Eurasia” Journal are responsible for making decisions about publication, guided by the reliability of the article and its scientific significance. They follow the editorial policy of the journal, taking into account the current legal requirements regarding copyright, legality and plagiarism. The Chief and Executive editors may consult with other editors and reviewers to decide on publication.
  3. Editors maintain the integrity of the academic record, scientific and ethical standards that cannot be changed in favour of business and commercial interests. The editors check the material using the “Antiplagiat” system for the unfair textual borrowing, appropriation of research results and incorrect self-citation using. If unethical practices are detected, the editorial is guided by the recommendations of the Committee on publication ethics (COPE), the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (ANRI). The editorial board has the right to retract fully or partially duplicated articles. The editors regularly re-check (in one year and in two years) already published materials for borrowings. This check allows avoiding multiple publications, as well as identify incorrect borrowings that could not be detected at the time of publication of articles due to the lack of available materials in open access.
  4. Retraction policy. In accordance with the COPE Guidelines for Retracting Articles, the editor-in-chief and publisher make decisions about the retraction of articles, interact with authors and other publishers. Articles that violate the norms of academic ethics are retracted. See: Retraction.
  5. Equality and Privacy. Any form of discrimination is unacceptable when evaluating the intellectual content of articles by editors. The journal uses double-blind peer review policy. All editorial staff do not need to disclose information about the accepted article to other persons, except for its authors, reviewers, possible reviewers and the publisher.
  6. Malpractice and competing interests prevention. Unpublished data obtained from submitted articles are not used in personal research. Information or ideas obtained during the review process and related to possible benefits are kept confidential and are not used for personal gain. Editors should require reviewers to disclose any potential competing interests before agreeing to review a submission.

 

Responsibilities and ethics of authors

Author's contract

  1. Before submitting materials to the journal, the author is obliged to read the terms of the author's contract published on the journal's website www.eurasia-art.ru.
  2. Objectivity and scientific value. Editors' decisions to accept an article for publication or to reject it are based solely on the article's compliance with the journal's policy, significance, originality and scientific value of the article.
  3. Editors should not cancel the decision to publish an article that has already been made, except in cases of serious problems with scientific reliability or copyright infringement.
  4. Clarity of peer review. Authors and editors must be confident that the journal's peer review process is fair, impartial, and timely. A description of the review process is published on the official website of the journal. Confidential peer review issues should not be disclosed.
  5. The independence of expertise. Editors of the Journal can publish an article in it. However, they should not use their position to do this. It is necessary to apply a special control procedure to make sure that the author, who is also the editor, can not influence the decision to accept the article, whether it is intentional or unintentional influence.
  6. Submitting the article. A description of the article submission process, including standards and requirements for the submitted article, is published on the official website of the journal. Editors should keep the description of the specified process up to date.
  7. Author's support. The editors are responsible for communicating with the authors, including sending emails with responses in the specified time frame.
  8. Accuracy and reliability. Authors are required to correctly prepare a set of documents submitted for publication, in accordance with the requirements specified on the journal's website. Authors should provide reliable results of the work done on the original research and an objective discussion of its significance. The article should contain sufficient details and bibliographic references. Knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable, they can because for rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article.
  9. Respect for the rights of the publisher. The author should not submit an article devoted to the same research material to more than one journal as an original publication. Submitting the same article to more than one journal at the same time is perceived as unethical behaviour and unacceptable. The author should not submit a previously published article for consideration in another journal.
  10. Authors are required to comply with the ethical principles of scientific publication adopted by the Publisher and approved in this editorial policy. Authors guarantee that they submit a completely original work. If research or statements by other authors are used, relevant bibliographic references or excerpts should be provided. Plagiarism in any form – from presenting someone else's text as author's copying or paraphrasing essential parts of someone else's work (without attribution) and to claiming their own rights to the results of someone else's research – is unethical and unacceptable. The editors of the Journal have the right not to respond to accusations of plagiarism if the accuser provides false personal information (for example, presents himself with a fictitious name) or acts in an unethical or threatening manner. The editors are not obliged to discuss cases of alleged plagiarism with persons not directly related to it.
  11. In case of detection of plagiarism, multiple publications, falsifications or fabrications and other violations of publication ethics by the authors, the editors have the right to the following actions:
  1. Copyright. The authors confirm that their publication does not violate any of the existing copyrights on the materials submitted for publication, and guarantee the publisher damages in case of such violations. To distribute the publication and to implement the policy of using materials, the authors transfer to the publisher the exclusive ownership of the article materials, unless otherwise provided.

 

Responsibilities and ethics of reviewers

  1. Academic cooperation. Scientists who want to contribute to the publication perform a significant work on the review of the article. This work is carried out voluntarily in response to the editor's request.
  2. The peer-review process. A description of the review process, including the terms of confidentiality of the received research, as well as information about the author and reviewers, is published on the official website of the journal. Editors are responsible for ensuring the confidential status of peer-reviewed materials during the review process.
  3. Terms and competence. The reviewer accepting the article for review is obliged to comply with the stipulated terms of reviewing. If the reviewer is aware that he/she does not have sufficient expertise to review the article or does not have enough time to complete a work, the one must notify the editor and ask to remove the one from the article review process.
  4. Competing interests prevention. Reviewers are required to disclose any potential competing interests before agreeing to review a submission.
  5. Privacy. The journal uses double-blind peer review policy. Editors are responsible for maintaining the privacy of reviewers' identities.
  6. Malpractice prevention. The reviewer may not use unpublished data obtained from the articles submitted for review in personal research without the author's written consent. Information or ideas obtained during the review process and related to possible benefits are kept confidential and are not used for personal gain. Any article received for review is considered a confidential document. This work is not opened and is not discussed with any persons not authorized by the editor-in-chief.
  7. Objectivity. The reviewer is required to give an objective assessment. Personal criticism of the author is not acceptable. The reviewers should be clear and well-reason\ed.
  8. Score articles. The reviewers identify important published works, topic relevant, and not included in the bibliography to the article. Any statement, finding, conclusion or argument published previously should be accompanied by corresponding bibliographic references in the article. The reviewer draws the attention of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editor to detection of significant similarities or overlaps between the article and any other previously published work in the field of the scientific competence of the reviewer and expresses an opinion on the acceptability of the article for publication from the point of view of ethics standards and rules.

Policy on the use of generative AI

Due to the spread of the practice of using artificial intelligence (AI) programs, including in the preparation, writing and reviewing of scientific articles, the editorial board of “The Art of Eurasia” Journal considers it necessary to focus the attention of authors, reviewers and redactors on the following provisions.

Policy for Authors

The use of generative AI and AI-powered tools in scientific writing

In the case of using AI systems in the preparation of an article, the author is required to specify in the abstract or in the accompanying note which specific systems were used, in what manner, and for what purpose.

The purpose of using AI

Authors may use generative AI and AI tools solely to enhance the readability and linguistic quality of their manuscripts. Such tools should be used under human supervision, and the results should be thoroughly reviewed and edited by the authors. It is important to understand that AI can generate text that seems authoritative but may contain inaccuracies, incomplete information, or bias.

Exclusion of AI from the list of authors

No AI tools can be listed as co-authors or used as references. Authorship implies responsibility and the execution of tasks that can only be performed by a human. Authors must ensure that their work is original, adheres to ethical standards, and does not infringe on the rights of third parties. The author is obliged to ensure accurate credit of all cited materials, including bibliographic references.

The use of AI in illustrations and graphic content

The use of generative AI or AI tools to create, modify, or process images in manuscripts is prohibited. Adjustment of brightness, contrast, and color balance is only allowed if it does not distort the presented data.

Accountability and Information disclosure

Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, reliability, and originality of their work. The use of AI tools must be disclosed in the manuscript, and this disclosure will be included in the published article to ensure transparency and build trust among all participants in the publication process.

The authors may not specify this information if there was no significant modification of the manuscript content when using generative AI, for example:

  • basic grammar verification tools were used;
  • only a few words that do not change the general meaning were replaced in the text of the manuscript;
  • the order and format of literature sources were adjusted without the recommendation/generation of sources;
  • general editing of images was carried out without modification (cropping, contrast enhancement, etc.).

The editors may request additional information on the use of AI to ensure transparency and compliance with ethical standards.

Policy for reviewers

Privacy and the use of AI tools

Reviewed manuscripts are confidential documents, and uploading them or any part of them to artificial intelligence tools is prohibited, as it may violate the author's confidentiality and intellectual property rights.

The use of generative AI to assist in scientific peer review is not permitted, as the review process requires critical thinking and independent assessment that go beyond the capabilities of AI. Reviewers bear full responsibility for the content of their reviews.

Policy for Editors

Confidentiality of manuscripts

All manuscripts submitted for review to “The Art of Eurasia” Journal must remain confidential. Uploading them or any parts of them to artificial intelligence tools is prohibited, as it may violate the rights and confidentiality of the authors.

The evaluation of manuscripts requires critical thinking and an objective approach, which can only be provided by human editors. Editors bear full responsibility for the editorial process, final decisions on manuscripts, and communicating these decisions to the authors.

Technical control by the editorial staff

The editorial staff uses specialized tools, such as the Anti-Plagiarism system module, to identify AI-generated texts. Manuscripts containing misuse of AI may be rejected or sent for revision.

1. General

This Personal Data Processing and Protection Policy (the “Policy”) is adopted and in effect in the Editorial Office of “The Art of Eurasia” Journal (Operator is publisher, Individual Entrepreneur Sophia Belokurova). This Operator's policy on personal data processing applies to all information that the Operator can obtain about website https://www.eurasia-art.ru/ visitors.

2. Key terms and definitions

“Personal data” is any information that is related directly or indirectly to a specific or identifiable individual user of the website, https://www.eurasia-art.ru/.

  • the technical data automatically transmitted by the device you use to access our websites including the device’s specifications, IP-address, cookies data sent to your device, browser information, date and time of access, addresses of the pages searched, and other similar information. 4. Purposes of personal data processing

We may process your personal data for purposes it has been provided for only, including the following:

  • informing the User by sending e-mails;
  • concluding, executing and terminating agreements;
  • providing the User with access to services, information and/or materials contained on the website;
  • publishing and entering into scientometric databases to identify the author and his scientific works.

The Operator may also send notifications to the User about new products and services, special offers and various events. The user can always refuse to receive informational messages by sending an e-mail to the Operator publish@eurasia-art.ru marked “Refuse notifications”, as well as through the notification settings in your personal account on the site https://www.eurasia-art.ru/.

Depersonalized User data collected through Internet statistics services is used to improve the quality of the site and its content.

5. The Principles of processing of personal data

The operator processes the User's personal data only if they are filled in and/or sent by the User independently via special forms located on the site, https://www.eurasia-art.ru/. By filling out these forms and/or sending personal data to the Operator, the User agrees to this Policy.

The operator processes depersonalized data about the User if this is allowed in the User's browser settings (saving cookies and using JavaScript technology is enabled).

6. Personal data security

The security of personal data processed by the Operator is ensured by implementing legal, organizational and technical measures necessary to fully comply with the requirements of current legislation in the field of personal data protection.

The operator ensures the safety of personal data and takes all possible measures to prevent access to personal data of unauthorized persons.

The User's personal data will never, under any circumstances, be transferred to third parties, except in cases related to the implementation of current legislation.

The term for processing personal data is unlimited. The user can withdraw consent to the processing of personal data at any time by sending a notification to the Operator via email to the Operator's e-mail address publish@eurasia-art.ru marked “Withdrawal of consent to the processing of personal data”.

7. Cross-border transfer

Your personal data security during cross-border transfers is very important to us. We take all necessary measures to guarantee confidentiality and security of your personal data.

Cross-border transfers of personal data to countries that do not ensure adequate protection of personal data are permissible only with your written consent or to execute a contract to which you are a Party, and in other cases provided by the Russian law on personal data. We have taken steps to ensure all personal data is provided with adequate protection and that all transfers of personal data are done lawfully.
