Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the Mongolian temple construction method, with a particular focus on the modular yurt system developed by Banzragchiin Daajav. The authors examine the principle put forth by the Mongolian architect in terms of design and construction and relevance to the traditional world-views of Mongolians, which are expressed in the doctrine of the interaction of two polar beginnings — arga bilig. The study pertains to the implementation of this method in a range of architectural structures, encompassing both modest temple edifices and expansive complexes such as Gandan. The article examines in detail the geometric shapes built on the basis of circles and emphasizes their importance for the analysis of architectural proportions. The results of the study reveal a significant coincidence between the yurt module and the main elements of the temples, with a complete alignment of the semantic nodes of these structures. This substantiates the universality of the proposed method and its efficacy in design and planning. The results of the study offer novel insights into the study of architectural objects in Mongolia and confirms the uniqueness of traditional geometry in architectural practice.
