Dictionary of Buddhist Iconography by Lokesh Chandra

The section “Dictionary of Buddhist Iconography by Lokesh Chandra” publishes individual articles of the fundamental work in 15 volumes of the outstanding Indian scientist, academician L. Chandra. The dictionary combines material from twenty centuries from all countries and regions covered by Buddhist influence. The pages of this work describe and illustrate 12,000 major and minor deities, their main symbols, details, attributes, and image variants. Scholars around the world use the dictionary's materials for attribution and interpretation of Buddhist art monuments. Translation and publication of articles in Russian is carried out with the permission of the author.
