
The scientific and practical conference (with international participation) “Icon painting in museum collections. Research. Restoration. Representation" was held on November 26, 2021. It is timed to the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the formation of the collection of Russian art of the 15th – 20th centuries and to the 10th anniversary of the appearance of the State Art Museum of Ugra, which is the organizer of the conference.
The scientific-practical conference has become an important event in the cultural life of Ugra. Methods of study, attribution and restoration of works of icon painting, methods of exhibiting and the history of icon painting collections were proposed for discussion. The stated range of issues caused a lively response, and as a result, 21 speakers took part in the conference: representatives of state and municipal museums, higher educational institutions, as well as other specialists from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and Lugansk.
The main purpose of the conference is to increase the level of inter-museum communication and to organize the exchange of information about icon painting collections in museums and private collections.
The reports were devoted to the issues of restoration work, the history of the formation of collections, the iconography of individual items, ways of exhibiting icon painting.
