On November 5, in the halls of the Sverdlovsk Regional Branch of the All-Russian creative public organization “Union of Artist of Russia” (Yekaterinburg), a personal exhibition of graphics by Igor Repnikov will be opened, which is part of the program of the Fourth All-Russian Open Biennale-Festival of Graphics “URAL-GRAPHO”.
Igor Repnikov showed an interest in graphic art during his studies at the Krasnoyarsk art school. Comprehension of the profession in the Theater and Decoration Department largely influenced the formation of imaginative thinking and the author's artistic manner, and the passion for scenographic techniques further enriched the artist's creative search. It is from the art of scenography, when two or more sets are simultaneously given on the theater stage, depicting the environment of different actions taking place simultaneously, but in different places, that Igor Repnikov borrowed the technique of simultaneous display of different subjects.
Simultaneity is read and in complex compositions Repnikova, connecting the past, present and future. This vision of space and time allowed the author to build his own philosophical and artistic systems, which were developed through attempts to combine fundamentally incompatible details and elements in the works.
In his works, Repnikov also uses the reverse "effect of the presence" of things, phenomena, and characters in paintings. So, as if from oblivion, there are portraits of friends and contemporaries. Expressive and concise portraits create a certain tension inherent in the psychological type of portrait. Repnikov's portraits contain a sensual expression of the author's thought, in which the artist and the viewer enter into a dialogue and interaction, overcoming symbolic boundaries and connecting in one time and space.
The exhibition is open from November 5 to December 1, 2020.
