Abstract

The article is dedicated to an analysis of the stylistic characteristics of temple mosaics within the interiors of two prominent modern structures: the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade and the Main Temple of the Armed Forces of Russia. The present study is relevant in light of the ongoing development of church art, the multitude of artistic associations that draw upon a diverse array of stylistic reference points and exhibit distinctive approaches to the creation of compositions and the technique of the set. However, this domain of modern Christian art remains understudied. The article considers the history of the creation and the specifics of the organisation of the interior space of Orthodox Christian churches. It also describes modern approaches and methods of workshop organisation, defines the stylistic features and compositional role of decorative panels with the help of formal and stylistic analysis, and touches upon some tasks and problems existing in this field of monumental art.
