Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the iconography of the image of the Virgin of the Sign, as one of the most revered images in Siberia. The history of veneration of this image in the region is indicated. On the basis of icons of the Yenisei painting of the 18th – the late 19th centuries, it was possible to consider different iconographic variants, to describe the features and technological methods characteristic of the iconography of Yenisei Siberia. The author made a comparative analysis of temple images and icons kept in Krasnoyarsk museums. The article introduces previously unknown works of icon art into scientific circulation. Determining the characteristic features inherent in the iconographic monuments of the Yenisei region will help in their further study and attribution.
